“Anyone can cook” quoted by the famous French Chef Auguste Gusteau is proven correct by Alfredo Linguini and Remy. The perfect culinary pair in the Disney Pixar’s Ratatouille.
Even after being a rat, Remy thinks his calling in life is more than to scavenge garbage. Apart from his pack, he is always in looking for good food which separates him from his family. Landing him in chef Gusteau’s sinking restaurant.
Linguini doesn’t know how to cook but is in desperate need of a job. And Remy has an incredible talent for cooking. Both form an unusual alliance. While working from the hat of Linguini and creating magic, chef skimmer who is the main villain finds out Gusteau’s will claiming Linguini to be the real owner.
In between all this chaos comes another problem in the form of Anton Ego a food critic. Who is about to visit the restaurant to find its real quality when the other’s claim the sinking ship is rising.
Remy serves him his new improvised Ratatouille which takes ego back to his childhood. Even after getting the desired review restaurant has to be closed as the secret of rat chef is blown. Following their dream, at the end the two open a bistro, “La Ratatouille” where both humans and rat dine.
This movie inspires many to follow their dream and also makes realize the fact that if you are passionate about something then your family will support you at last no matter what.
Passion is the boat that can make you thrive the sea of difficulty and storm of failure. Taking this quote ahead comes John Faveraau with his movie “Chef”.

As Hassan is intriguingly looking at sea urchins he is picked by the vendor from the crowd referring to “the boy who knows” following which he tastes the urchin with his fingers and a look on his face depicts Hassan’s passion for ingredients and his love for food.
In parallel, it is seen that Hassan and his family are applying for a visa to Europe after being London ill-suited for the restaurant. Hassan does not feel the soul in vegetables in England.
The Kadam family long back ran a family restaurant in Mumbai which was also a training school for Hassan under his Mama inspiring to be a cook. But one day they lost all when their family restaurant was burned down by an election mob. To evacuate all their guests and save what they could Mama was killed. Falling the responsibility of the main cook on Hassan.

While pushing the truck down the road Papa observed an abandoned restaurant building that is available for purchase. While checking out the restaurant that is just across the street-100 feet away from the French restaurant he is questioned by Madame Mallory the French restaurant’s owner. She asks Kadam to leave because of its “private property”. Even being stopped by the Kadam family, Papa buys the restaurant and names it as “Maison Mumbai”.
Mallory comes before the opening night and asks for the menu. On the day of opening night, Mallory buys all the ingredients necessary for the Kadams to open from the nearest market leading to a War. In revenge, Papa buys all the pigeons from the local market making it difficult for Madame to serve the minister. Hassan being apologetic for his father’s behavior cooks the minister’s favorite “Pigeon and Truffle”. Madame loves the dish but afraid from the competition throws it in dustbin leaving Hassan disappointed and in revenge.
The cold war between Papa and Madame along with the parallel developing love story of Hassan and Marguerite is a treat to watch. Marguerite helps Hassan in understanding French cuisine and Madame’s behavior.
The war peaks on French’s national day when one of Mallory’s chefs with his group sets fire to Kadam restaurant and spray paints the outer wall with words “France for the French”. On the following morning disappointed by his chef’s behavior, Mallory dismisses him and personally cleans the graffiti from Maison Mumbai.
Having remembered what Marguerite told Hassan about Madame, he invites Mallory for an omelette. But she has to help him cook his recipe as his hands are injured. On tasting his omelette Mallory is just amazed by Hassan’s talent and wants to teach him more. But Papa is against this idea. The stubbornness of Mallory convinces papa and he strikes a deal at Hassan’s pay. The job at Mallory results putting a strain on the relationship between Hassan and Marguerite.
