COVID 19 has turned out to be the greatest global crisis ever in the world history. Quiet evidently, this pandemic has put significant impact on the entertainment industry. All over the world, the shooting for the cinemas, TV programs, web series has been put on hold, the halls have been shut down, film festivals and celebrations have been postponed. The movies that were about to release are now delayed for an indefinite time period.
Effect on box office
This global issue has been responsible in making the streaming services more popular. The global box office is facing a destructive loss of about billions of dollars as the film exhibitors witness a rapid downfall.
Many film productions have been postponed as well. Numerous films were about to hit the theatres between March and November this year.
Country wise box office losses
The gigantic pandemic has been successful in creating massive impacts on the box offices of different countries. According to stats, more than 70,000 cinemas were shut down in January 2020.
The Chinese entertainment industry faced a drastic downfall of 2 billion US Dollars. The scenario is similar to North America who came up with their lowest box office score since 1998. On 8th March 2020, cinemas were closed in Italy, as they saw 94% drop in their weekend performance. The effect of this pandemic has been fatal in France as well, where cinemas are running at half capacity. This practise also reduces screen proximities. The other countries where cinemas were closed are Qatar 12th March), US (17th March), UK (20th March), Thailand & Malaysia (18th March), Singapore (27th March), Australia & New Zealand (22nd March).

Schedule of Award Ceremony
Two major award functions were arranged after the massive widespread of the COVID 19. They are 45th Cesar Awards and Japan Academy Film Prize that took place on February 28th and March 6th respectively.
The Award of Japanese Academy stepped beyond March 6th, though was held in absence of any guests and media reporters. The Seiyu Awards that was planned to take place on March 7th cancelled the programmes due to obvious reasons. The list of winners was announced via the Nippon Cultural Broadcasting’s internet radio show.

The pandemic has not spared the film festivals too. Many of those have been postponed for an indefinite time or cancelled permanently. In this case too, the numbers are huge.
