Hello everyone.
Like I might have said before, TV shows and the like can do much more than just help us idle our time away.
Apple released their streaming service in the era of ‘show-binging’ on November 1st 2019. So, here we are with seven of the best shows on Apple+ TV that you can watch right now.
1. Ghostwriter.
If you are a 90’s kid then I’m sure this got you all nostalgic.
Yes, Ghostwriter (reboot) is a retelling of the original television series of the same name.
Ghostwriter had ran from 1992 to 1995 and had immediate positive responses but lack of funding ended it’s reign abruptly.
The rebooted version released on the streaming platform on 1st November 2019 and like the original, aims at getting the audience to read and become more familiar with literature.
The characters in the show are all set to go on adventures caused by a someone or something releasing fictional characters into the real world and they need to solve cryptic messages while being familiar with the story of the fictional character (….sounds fun, right????!!!…).
The first season has 13 episodes and the second season is already in production. With a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it deserves to be at the top of our Best shows list.
2. Snoopy In Space.
If you have ever (….and I really mean this…) opened the comic section of the average newspaper you are bound to have seen Snoopy with Woodstock and Charlie brown.
Peanuts by Robin Schulz is a very famous comic and air marshal Snoopy is now heading to space.
Yes, in this spin-off of Peanuts, Snoopy, Woodstock and the Peanuts team is traveling to space.
Snoopy in space was also released on 1st November 2019 by Apple+ TV and has 12 episodes in the first season. ( Spoilers!!!!) We were left with Snoopy planning his conquest on Mars after conquering ISS and the Moon. We’ll get to know if he did in the second season. This too has a rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and almost got the top spot in our Best shows list.
3. Little America.
Have you ever had to leave your country?.
I never had but I have moved across states (…exactly from one side of the country to its opposite….I live in the west now!!!….) and if I learned anything then it is that the stress of moving itself can be really difficult. Think of immigrants who have to leave their birthplaces for various reasons whether they want to or are compelled to. Little America is an anthology series of such immigrants.
They are actually based on true stories published in the Epic magazine.
The show takes you through the uncertainty, discrimination, hardships and psychological turmoils immigrants in the United States have had to go through only to be worthy of a normal life in the land.
Each 30 minute episode is worth your effort and is sure to warm your heart and have you empathise with them even if you believe yourself to be the most cold-hearted.
It was released on 17th January 2020 on Apple+ TV and contains 8 episodes. The second season is on its way. It landed on our Best shows list with a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
4. Carpool karaoke.
It would be rare to find someone who has never seen James Corden having a blast in a car with some of the most famous names in Tinseltown and Billboards.
Carpool karaoke is fun alright (….it is….even BTS came here people!!!!….).
Now, you can watch complete episodes of the same, featuring various celebrities including Will Smith, Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, the cast of Stranger Things, Adele, Britney Spears, Harry Styles and more, like it’s the best time of their lives with James Corden. The series has three seasons and is available right now. It was rumoured to have different hosts every episode too but unfortunately I haven’t caught up (… sorry…) to the latest episode.
The show has a 90% rating. Comment down below if you have and go check it out on Apple+ TV.
5. Home Before Dark
Love mysteries???? Me too!. I don’t know if you have heard of her but Hilde Lysiak is an actual child journalist and our protagonist in Home Before Dark is based on her. ( Spoilers!!!)
In the show, we follow a nine year old Hilde moving into her father’s hometown of Erie Harbor and digging up a mystery hidden by the townfolk which involves her father’s childhood best friend.
It is really adorable but it also deals with various social issues that people often overlook.
Hide with her sister, two friends and father helps bring about a change only to discover it to be just a piece in a much bigger puzzle (…Supernatural vibes anyone???…).
It was released on 3rd April 2020 and contains 10 episodes. It has got a 83% rating and I don’t wanna spoil it for you anymore so go check it out on Apple+ TV.
6. Oprah’s Book Club
Who doesn’t love or atleast admire Oprah Winfrey??.
Her show might be discontinued but her book club is still open. We all know that the Book Club was a segment of the show but the legacy continues on Apple+ TV.
She is back and will be reviewing a book every two months. There have been three episodes till now since its release in November 2019. The club has always been about getting people to read more and distributing awareness. Most books that have been reviewed in the show in the past have only increased in demand and have even been turned into movies. She has also called out authors with no authenticity and those who discriminate (…dayum…). Let’s all look forward to even more thought-provoking and transforming books from the fearless queen of empathy. Stream Oprah’s Book Club on Apple+ TV.
7. Dickinson.
You know Emily Dickinson right?.
No?
Wild nights?
Reticent?.
Well, start reading her poetry because you don’t know what you’re missing out on.
Released on November 2019 and having a rating of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, the only reason this is at the end of this list is because of how controversial it is.
Yes (….I don’t believe we’ll ever know how Emily Dickinson was truly like….unless she’s back from the dead ofcourse….) , the controversy started when the show depicted Emily Dickinson who was an introverted recluse as a partying rebellious feminist who is in a secret relationship with her brother’s fiancé. She sure was ahead of her times, very misunderstood and even highly underappreciated in her generation. But not everyone could digest this version of Emily.
I’m sure it was only done to make her more relatable to us and it’s not like she’s here to give us a detailed perspective but come on, it is a biography of Emily Dickinson from a 21st-century, gender fluid perspective and comes with modern lingo instead of old English. Give it a try, you might just like it. It contains 10 episodes. ( Fun fact: I share my sun sign with both Emily Dickinson and Hailee Steinfield, who plays her in the series.) Stream Dickinson on Apple+ TV right now.
So, there. You have seven really awesome shows to watch on Apple+ TV. Go ahead, it’s free for a year on purchase of an apple device and cost about $4.99 in the US and 99 rupees in India monthly.
Thank you.
