CBS All Access have announced that The Good Fight is coming back for a season 5 after the 4th season was cut short. Here is what you need to know about the series!
The Good Fight is a legal drama web-series created by Robert King and Michelle King. This series is a sequel to The Good Wife created by the same. The series first premiered in February 2017 in CBS All Access as it’s the network’s first scripted show. The show was liked by the audience and was renewed for many more seasons. The show has 4 seasons and 40 episodes as of now.
Plot and Cast of The Good Fight:
The series starts with Diane Lockhart played by Christine Baranski being scammed along with her goddaughter Maia played by Rose Leslie losing their reputation in their law firm and all their savings. They start afresh by joining in a new firm along with their friend Lucca Quinn played by Cush Jumbo. These three female characters are the main cast of the show. The series is mainly a political drama focusing on the problems of the country in accordance with the case filed in the firm. The show talked about the issues in America like the Me Too Movement, cyber bullying and the Trump administration. The show portrayed all the problems faced by Americans in a subtle manner and I think that is why it resonated with the audience.
What to know about Season 5:
Season 4 of the show aired on April 9, 2020 and because of the current situation, the episodes for the season was reduced to 7 from 10 and the season ended on May 28, 2020. Fans were wondering if the show is returning for another season and the network has replied that it is indeed returning back.
“It’s been weird to not be able to finish the fourth season. It left the story in even more absurd a place than usual. So we’re thrilled that CBS All Access wants to bring The Good Fight back for an additional season, and we know what story we’re planning to tell. It’s like getting the answers to the SAT ahead of time.” say the creators of the show Robert and Michelle King.
Cush Jumbo leaving the show?
Another shocking surprise is that a person from the main cast have quit the show. It is none other than Cush Jumbo playing the character of Lucca Quinn. She says that though she has loved the time she spent in the show, she wants to experience new ventures in the entertainment business. As the 4th season ended abruptly, she hopes that she can return in 5th season for a brief time to give a good end to the character. We sincerely hope that she does!
Season 5 will begin shooting once the current situation subsides and we can see what the creators have up their sleeves for the firm now!
