Alright, hello again people. How many of you have watched the CBS drama, All Rise??…have you?. I wouldn’t be very surprised but I know you have heard of it. So, here’s what I’ll tell you about All Rise; all you need to know about the renewal…
All Rise is a CBS legal series(…yes, like Judge Judy except nothing catches up with Judge Judy….). Released on September 23rd 2019, the first season has 21 episodes. It was not very well received by people, Rotten Tomatoes gave it only a mere 56% rating. Don’t worry though, that did not deter the show from it’s course.
This CBS drama follows the life of newly appointed Judge Lola Carmichael (…Sweet Home Alabama vibes anyone???…) as she transitions into her position. Set in the LA courthouse, we are shown the inner system workings of a sometimes bizzare justice system. The lives of our judge, prosecutors, defenders and attorneys mirror the same weirdness sometimes.
The justice system is flawed but hopeful too and that is what the show tries to depict. You are also guaranteed a fresh romance. And if you are able to guess that the name of the series comes from the command; All Rise at the entrance of the Judge into the courtroom, you are correct my friend.
The recent event regarding All Rise:
The show made headlines when it filmed the finale episode through video messaging apps such as Zoom and Skype (…yep, it really did happen….wish everyone adapted the same idea…). It showed Judge Carmichael holding the courtroom session at her home virtually as the season finale.
The episode also had B-roll shots of LA under lockdown due to the pandemic. It was a really creative idea from the All Rise team to depict the events of the present world. However, it didn’t garner the response expected. The views were around 5.4 million (…..That’s no failure fam…5.4 freaking million people!!!!!…), much less than expected. It made people doubt whether a second season would exist.
The renewal of All Rise:
Told you, the team did not get sidetracked. CBS renewed it for another season and seems like we’ll be seeing something of it this fall. The cast took to social media to immensely thank the loyal fans while announcing the renewal.
