Here we are entering the carnival month of the year, the Pride month, the month known for bright rainbow parades and happy faces celebrating love and differences.
Though there wouldn’t be any carnivals this year let’s not lose heart we still got Netflix, some time and our partner(if we’re lucky) with us, so let’s make best use of these and celebrate this month.
Here is a list of few of the must watch LGBTQ+ movies and shows on Netflix. Now, there are many LGBTQ movies and shows in Netflix so let me strain out the cream for y’all my readers, okay I’ll zip it up and spread down my list.
This movie is about an underage porn star who’s wanted by all, (how’s that for starters?) cos he’s young and hot and cute who wouldn’t want to cast him? He gets into legal trouble because of his age and also drags in people around him into trouble for using him in movies and for abusing him secually. Brent Corrigan becomes an instant sensation among the producers of porn industry and in the emerging porn industry-it’s set in 2006-and this ensues clashes between producers. This movie is a perfect cocktail of drama and porn, the real craft of the movie is realized when the plot and actions are so well synced that you’d have to stop in the middle to check if you’re watching a movie or a 2 hr porn.
Starring Alia Shawkat and Laia Costa, this experimental romantic movie is about a cynical young woman who meets a Carpe Diem woman in a pub, opposites-drawn to each other they embark on a crazy yet intense romantic adventure, they decide to have sex every hour for the following 24 hours-cos why invest 10 years and leave when you could have all the fun in 24 hrs a little hedonistic-Crazy! I know, yet it did work out because the movie was not just about sex but it was also about the flawed characters and their growth and bond.
This would be an interesting watch not just for this coming of age fun theme but also for the portrayal of lesbian sex, the sex in this movie doesn’t abide to the male gaze conventional sex mode but zones on the real, raw shit(literal there)that goes on during sex, before sex and after sex, well that’s why the name Duck Butter (you know if you know)the reality in this gives you a very grizzly turn on.
Blue is the Warmest Colour
This sensuous drama focuses on the ecstasy and pangs of first love. The movie revolves around a quiet high school beauty, Adele who falls in love with her senior Emma, a bold and beautiful blue haired artist(Junior girl-Senior girl meet love-break-cliche I know but some tropes never get old). The movie takes you through their ups and downs in love and love making equally and also brilliantly portrays their growth through the years.
This is a straight R rated passionate movie so beware of creeps when watching this movie. What I liked about this is the usual beauty of romance between a dominant senior and a quiet beauty, it’s just neat and beautiful.
This 1998 movie -Oh don’t be so put off already, wait- chronicles 24 hrs in the life of a 19 year old repressed Ari who engages himself in a wild serial sex with numerous people to assert his masculinity, he just leashes out one night, sexy isn’t it?
This movie is a strict watch alone or with your partner(that too only optional) movie cos there are just too many ecstatic sex scenes which you should enjoy alone.
Below her Mouth
As the title says it all, the movie is all about it and a little more about it. It is a steamy affair between “Tom Mannish” Dallas who doesn’t like any strings attached in relationships and an unsatisfied Jasmine, a fashion editor engaged to a nice man(and thinks she’s straight)finds passion and satisfaction from unrestrained sex over the weekend. The movie is known for it’s steamy sex between two women who just can’t keep their hands off each other. And I have to say this, unlike many movies the couple actually unite, but let me warn you this is another stereotypical long porn.
Now let’s jump to the series.
Orange is the New Black
This is one of my favorite shows because this gave me an inside view of the often closed gates of prison(women’s prison here). The series is not about some crazy frustrated convicts going mad for sex but it fleshes out the women as victims of situations and doesn’t just focus on one lead role, we get to know many characters and their many stories. These women form bonds and relationships behind bars the series explores these relationships explicitly. If you watch porn have you ever come across “sex in the church” category? Cos here in prison that is one of the safest places for intimacy and sex.
Lip Service from BBC is a series which doesn’t just give lip service to lesbian, bi woman representation. It mainstreams the female/female relationship in a gritty Glasgow, amid family deaths, mystery and secrets kept. The major focal point of the series is relationship drama – love, heartbreak, cheating, betrayal, unhealthy but panty wetting affairs, this series has it all. And all these sprinkled with and mostly only between realistic and hot, really hot f/f sex scenes.
The series does not have a solid plot, or intriguing twists for a mystery-drama, and relies heavily on its representation of non-straight relationships. As bbc’s first show for complete f/f representation, the show is the step in right direction. Watch it for the hot sex and interesting female characters, that’s what I did!
You Me Her
This love triangle sorry three way romance comedy series makes the unthinkable (except in fantasies maybe) possible. This polyamorous relationship is between Jack, Emma and their partner Izzy. Jack and Emma are the perfect have it all couple in their 40’s, having lost the spice in sex they hire an escort to trigger their sexual life and this is the crux and the beginning of the series.
Though they were skeptical at first, Izzy’s smart and sexy attitude turns them on like crazy that Emma realizes that she’s bisexual upon her first meeting (realization along with some foot job and toilet sessions all in their first meet up). If you’re looking for something more relaxed yet turn on worthy then this is the one.
How to Get Away with Murder?
Who doesn’t enjoy a “petite mort”(orgasm)? This is just a little bigger version of it, Murder and Sex. How to Get Away with Murder is about the powerful Annalise Keating who takes a group of young law students under her wing who specialise in as the title goes getting away with murder cases, but mostly they end up saving themselves from their own cases cos they just can’t stop murdering people by accident. So what’s so sexy about this (apart from their head strong attitude).
The bisexual boss bitch attitude among the female in the group who know and get what they want in sex and the hot cute couple Oliver and Connor whose make out sessions will leave us breathless. This series is 6 seasons long and every season is just worth binge watching at least for the couples in it.
The story revolves around sensates who are strangers. They come across each other due to the psychic connection. This show is one of my faves because the sex in this show is just very raw which forces people to take it or leave it wothout bending to the usuals, this attitude gives an entirely different view on sexuality and sex. There’s a scene where it’s like a sex party where people are not having threesome but 14some, it’s that groundbreaking.
The show gives more importance to the pleasures of sex (isn’t that the essence?) wherein both the partners experience the pure intimacy. This show will definitely give you an entirely different perspective towards sex since this show has more realistic elements where the bodies are shown in all their glory.
So with that note I ask you what are you still doing here!? Go and check them out before time is grabbed away from you. I’d suggest you to start with my favorite, You Me Her. Have fun.
