One of the most-watched and loved genres of movies are Science fiction. It converts your imagination into reality on-screen. And for a science geek like me, they are just astonishing.
Adding the wonder of biotechnology to science makes sci-fi more interesting. From genetic mutilation to mind expansion, creation of a new virus, or perhaps a cure……these are just ideas to start for a mind-blowing sci-fi.
Since all the work is at a stop and we have all the free time we can have. Going on a sci-fi spree will surely make your time more enjoyable.

The classic movie is an all-time favorite for sci-fi lovers. The movie explores the concept of genetic technology and how we can edit someone’s genetic makeup to get the desired characteristics. The technologies depicted in this movie are just decades before they were even invented.
The story is set up in the future where most children are conceived in-vitro, and their capabilities and what they could be are already predicted. In this society, there is a boy who is the last naturally conceived due to which he is debarred from the career of his choice. The movie is focused on the struggles he faces when he tries to hijack the life of the elite.

In fear of losing what she loves, she requests his friend who is a revolutionary reproductive researcher to create her clone. To whom she can pass her music as a daughter. As human cloning is illegal, the film raises ethical concerns about the same. Along with this, it also displays a beautiful relationship between the musician and her clone.

What do you think about alien organisms causing the death of every human just in seconds……scaring of that thought? This has been already predicted in 1971 “The Andromeda Strain”. When the concepts of science were still developing, the movie depicts the discovery of alien life, cell culturing, robotic arms, level IV labs, and exploring the mystery of mass deaths. I think these concepts are more than enough to intrigue you more to watch this movie.
The thriller movie revolves around a team of best scientists who are working around the clock to identify the alien organism that arrived on earth with the crashed satellite. This causes the death of almost all residents of the rural town of Piedmont. Only surviving are two- a 69-year-old alcoholic man and a six-month-old infant. Discovering the mystery of their survival and a way to kill the alien life “Andromeda”, the story is a must-watch.

Exploring the concepts of DNA hybrids and Recombinant DNA technology, there is a movie SPLICE, in which “The Future is Born”. Two scientists ignore the ban on research using human embryos and illegally create a hybrid creature with only desire to achieve fame. With the ongoing research, the duo manages to splice human DNA and create a new creature, about which they still have to discover. Afraid from legal actions, they take the creature in a deserted shed where they try to raise it as there own child, along with studying its characteristics and behavior. Not knowing the creature they have created is dangerous the things turn ugly at the end.

Primatologist Davis Okoye played by the ROCK is a close friend to ‘George’ a rare albino gorilla. His normal life turns into a series of adventures when he finds out that his primate friend has been mutated using CRISPR technology. The mutation leads George to grow into a gigantic, uncontrollable beast. He is not able to control his actions and is attracted to a frequency broadcasted by a biopharma company, Energyne. Along with the primate gigantic crocodile and wolf are also moving towards the same causing havoc along their path. Military and many other forces are working towards stopping them.
With the help of a geneticist, Dr. Kate, Okoye struggles to save his friend George along with the action-packed movie. We can see here the love between George and Okoye and its never easy to correct the “science that went wrong”.

The new Blade Runner has won two Oscars and two Baftas for its amazing cinematography and visual effects. The movie pays homage to the original film from the 1980s. As in the original movie, here also bioengineered humans known as ‘replicants’ are slaves. And to track down and kill ‘ rogue ‘replicants’ there is Blade Runner, the lead character played by Ryan Gosling. With a peak in future civilization along with thrill and action…this movie is a must-watch.

With the increasing number of death all over the globe, there is a spread of chaos and riots testing the ends of humanity. Will the doctors be able to find a cure for the unknown virus and trace its origin?

The story starts with the only surviving soldier of elite interstellar warriors, Takeshi Kovacs. When a wealthy businessman Laurens Bancroft offers him to chance to live again in return for solving a murder. This series gives an interesting look into how science could change the future and how we can live even after being dead by preserving our memories.

Paul the main lead, upon downsizing, gets to know his new neighbors and surroundings, he soon learns that living in a tiny suburb comes with its own set of huge problems. Explore what happens next…..
