With his film Inception, Nolan proved that he is a master of modern cinema and can create any movie that plays with the audience’s mind. The movie twists your mind on dreams, levels of consciousness, and the relativity of time. These concepts that are still difficult to understand are displayed in the movie as a child’s play.
This movie is an awesome sci-fi movie. In the first attempt, the movie is difficult to understand as the story plays with your mind. Visual effects in the movie are soo awesome that it appears like the planes are folding. Must watch if you want a heavy brain exercise.

NASA’s physicist Professor Brand is working on plans to save mankind by transporting Earth’s population to a new home via a wormhole. The main difficulty is to design a spacecraft capable of handling the variation of time and space while traveling through a wormhole and carrying such a large population along with it.
Above all the priority is to find a planet capable of supporting human life. For this, he sends NASA pilot Cooper and his team of researchers through the wormhole, across the galaxy to find out which out of the three planets is capable of supporting human life. The visuals of space, black hole, planets are just amazing to watch.

1968 ‧ Sci-fi/Adventure
IMG taken from: http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20180404-why-2001-a-space-odyssey-remains-a-mystery
Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A space odyssey:” is a classic Sci-fi. It inspired and continues to inspire nearly all modern science fiction. The movie revolves around the concept of evolution. It takes a huge leap through time from primitive mankind discovering their first tool (Age of dawn) to future mankind developing their most advanced tool, HAL 9000 supercomputer (Technological era). The movie has got all: outer space, drama, horror’s that the deranged HAL 9000 brings and humility of mankind. It is nearly impossible to understand the movie in the first
In an era were sci-fi movies were a B-class movie, “Stanley Kubrick” re-designed it and proved it too could be art. The movie struck a balance between posing questions and the absence of answers. Inviting generations to consider who we were and where we might go as a part of something greater than ourselves. Which is why it is our pick for the best science fiction film of all time.
ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND
2004 ‧ Romance/Sci-fi
IMG taken from: https://movietime.guru/why-you-should-watch-eternal-sunshine-of-the-spotless-mind-7028ce56b894
What would happen if we could enhance that one deeply unique feature that is consciousness? This movie can do that by starting to erase memories with ‘Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind”. The movie is a very soft sci-fi. Life looks very much similar like it does for us today. Except a new technology has been developed that can erase memory. Which helps to get rid of the pain and experience of a breakup.
The movie is about a couple: Joel and Clementine, who begin their relationship post a train journey, unaware that they had previously been in one, the memories of which are erased clinically. Giving the idea: it is easy to erase someone’s memory but not feelings.
Along with this, “Eternal Sunshine” also explores the consequence of this emotionally. The movie is not too much about the future but is about the present which is all our favorite sci-fi are doing. A must watch for those who are looking for the right mix of science, romance, and emotions.
2009 ‧ Sci-fi/Drama
IMG taken from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_(film)
The movie forces you to question yourself: whether you can ever know that you are you?? A sole employee is working at the lunar station, near the end of his three-year contract. Just counting the days of his return he starts to experience severe headaches and hallucinations. Confusing him this much that he starts to question who he is…
The layering of realities and overlapping stories can certainly go a long way in producing a mind-bending film. Duncan Jone’s excellent moon proves a single actor placed in a single location can be just as tough to process as a convoluted plot or reality-wrapping visuals. Starring Sam Rockwell moon offers a twist for ages that comes with serious psychological ramifications that will force you to seriously reflect on the question of identity.
1998 ‧ Sci-fi/Noir
IMG taken from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_City_(1998_film)
Starring Rufus Sewell, the dark city is a noir sci-fi movie like few others. Though it largely flew under the radar of cinema-goers’, it’s often cited as one of the most underappreciated and often overlooked films in the genre.
Movie taps on dreams and consciousness, and studying human behavior. With its amnesiac main character fearing the ever-changing city where it’s perpetually night time and injectable memories…the film gives you a whole lot to process.
2001 ‧ Sci-fi/Fantasy
IMG taken from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donnie_Darko
It is a film that made a generation of teens to realize that cinema could be much more than entertainment. But its dense plot, psychological concepts, and overall intelligence offer something to all age groups not only to adolescence.
It’s a dense and demanding puzzle full of bold concepts and crazier themes. The main character of Frank the terrifying and influential bunny to its handling of space-time, Donnie Darko functions as a highly atmospheric yet scientifically captivating piece of cinema.
So get your mind ready for a full on roller coaster ride……cheers!!
