Sons of Anarchy is an American TV series that aired in 2008 and continues till 2014. The cast of Sons of Anarchy includes Charlie Hunnam as Jackson “Jax” Teller, Katey Sagal as Gemma Teller Morrow, Mark Boone Junior as Bobby “Elvis” Munson, Kim Coates as Alex “Tig” Trager, Tommy Flanagan as Fillip “Chibs” Telford, Johhny Lewis as Kip “Half-Sack” Epps, Maggie Siff as Dr Tara Knowles, Ron Perlman as Clarence ” Clay” Morrow, Ryan Hurst as Harry “Opie” Winston, William Lucking as Piermont “Piney” Winston, Theo Rossi as Jean Carlos “Juice” Ortiz, Dayton Callie as Chief Wayne Unser, Jimmy Smits as Nero Padilla, Drea De Matteo as Wendy Case, and David Labrava as Happy. Hmm! Let’s see who seems fit for which Marvel character.
Katey Sagal as Doctor Octopus
I know, I know, Doctor Octopus has traditionally been played by male actors in spiderman movies and even in the animated TV series. But, Spiderman: Into the spider-verse changed it. This movie has a female Doctor Octopus which was played by Kathryn Hahn. If Marvel or Sony ever decides to make a live-action remake of the movie… Who better than Katey Segal? Katey Segal played Gemma Teller Morrow for seven seasons on The Sons of Anarchy and has been one of the most despicable villains on TV. And she can channel that energy to pull off one of the most evil members of Marvel.
Maggie Siff as Lady Deathstrike
Maggie Siff is an exceptional actor who is capable of pulling off a skilled fighter, that makes her perfect for the role, as we saw her perform in FX Biker and other performances before and since. The last time we see Lady Deathstrike was back in 2003 when she was underutilized as a mute henchman for William Stryker in X2. So the character is due for another more fleshed out appearance. Maggie Siff played Tara Knowles, the love interest of Charlie Hunnam in The Sons of Anarchy.
Charlie Hunnam as Wolverine
Well, Siff played the love interest of Hunnam on The Sons of Anarchy and fans loved them. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Siff and Hunnam are put together as partners in Marvel as well? It’s only a matter of time before Wolverine and the rest of X-men make their long-awaited Debut in MCU. And when that happens… Who would be better than Charlie Hunnam to portray Wolverine of the new era? Not just that, even his husky voice seems to fit the personality of Wolverine.
Ryan Hurst as Kraven The Hunter
Kraven the Hunter may not be as well known as other spiderman villains, but he has proved to be a formidable foe to spiderman from to time. Hurst played a gentle giant and a tragic character named Opie in Sons of Anarchy but he has played a crazed and interesting character in walking dead. Mixing the energy of Beta and the physical strength of Opie, Hurst can portray Kraven perfectly.
Tommy Flanagan as Ghost Rider
Tommy Flanagan has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before as one of the ravages who met a dissolute fate after standing up for Yondu in Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 2. But that shouldn’t stop Sons of Anarchy star to show up as a more well-known character. Tommy Flanagan played the role of Chibs Telford in Sons of Anarchy. He can handle his own on a motorcycle, looks badass in leather and has some facial scar that could be worked into the story. So, don’t you think he should be playing a character like Ghost Rider?
Ray McKinnon as Norman Osborn
Ray McKinnon played the role of Assistant US Attorney Lincoln James Potter on Sons of Anarchy and it can be said that it was one of the most well-written and well-played characters throughout the show. At times it was hard to see where he stood on things or if he could even be trusted. These qualities make McKinnon a perfect choice for Norman Osborn. McKinnon played a bit player in Ford v Ferrari and is recognized for that. This could take him to a leading badass in no time. And he even has that smirk that gives off an evil billionaire’s energy.
Ally Walker as Emma Frost
June Stahl played by Emma Frost in The Sons of Anarchy is one of the most hated characters in the history of TV series. She played the vindicate bureau of firearms, tobacco, alcohol and explosives agent. June Stahl was introduced in the 2nd season and became cold as ice thrown in the side of SAMCRO until she was shot dead in the following season. Going off her character’s actions in Sons of Anarchy, she would be perfect to play another Ice Queen, Emma Frost. She has shape-shifting and telepathic abilities (much like June Stahl, the psychotic agent). Considering all this, it will be a walk in the park for someone who is that good at portraying cold and sinister role to play Emma Frost.
Some Honorable Mentions
Ron Perlman as Rhino
Ron Perlman has already appeared in MCU as Reinhardt in Blade 2. We don’t know if he will reprise his role in Blade reboot, but it’s sure fun to imagine him bring RGino to life just like he brought Clay Morrow to life in The Sons of Anarchy. Perlman has the personality to pull off such a strong character. Oh, and also have some fun with Tom Holland’s friendly neighbourhood spiderman.
Kim Coates as Purple Man
Kim Coates played Tig Trager on the Sons of Anarchy and proved to be one of the most manipulative and vicious members of SAMCRO. David Tennant gave an amazing performance as Kilgrave, also known as Purple Man on Netflix series Jessica Jones, but if he isn’t able to return if or when the character is brought to futures Marvel movie, then Kim Coates will be an excellent replacement.
Theo Rossi as Gambit
Theo Rossi has also appeared in a Marvel property as Shades on Netflix series Luke Cage. He may not have the star power that some other names attached to the character have, but he still has the personality to pull it off just right.
David Labrava as Bullseye
David Labrava played Happy Lowman that is one of the most ruthless and feared killers on The Sons of Anarchy. He also has a habit of getting a smiley tattooed on his body every time he kills anyone. With behaviour like this, I can’t think of anyone better to play Bullseye. Someone who is able to pull this off so easily, can easily bring to life the psychopathic assassin Bullseye. Labrava’s capability to portray pure evil will take the character to another level.
Mark Boone Junior as Blob
Mark Boone Junior played the role of Robert Munson on The Sons of Anarchy and he can pull off a character like Blob. After the way Blob was treated in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, 2009, the character is due for a return. And you can go with any number of actors here, but Mark Boone Junior can pull it off. He can bring the underrated comic book character to another level.
Taylor Sheridan as Cyclops
Taylor Sheridan played Deputy Chief David Hale in The Sons of Anarchy. And although he doesn’t come in front of the camera as much as he used to, thanks t his successful career behind the camera, if he decides to act again, he can pull off the role of Cyclops when the character is brought to MCU. He could even serve as the director of the movie. He does know how to shoot and write an explosive action sequence. And with his good looks and amazing acting skills, he can pull off Cyclops just as easily.
With Marvel moving towards the Phase 4, we sure can hope to see many more amazing characters in action. And it goes without saying that Marvel casts not only live up to the expectations of the MCU and Marvel Comics fans, but also surpass them. Phase 4 is the first phase that includes TV series as well. Can’t say I am not excited!!! Hope to see them all soon.
